Adopted Family Members

Every month, nearly 63 sponsored family members are provided with ₹300/- each. During the financial year 2024–2025, an amount of approximately ₹1,91,400/- was spent. Breakfast is also provided.

Monthly groceries worth ₹9,442/- were distributed to economically backward families. Medical assistance of ₹24,912/- was provided to sponsored family members during the year. A deposit of ₹10,000/- was given as house rent advance to one underprivileged sponsored family, a beneficiary of our Conference.

Housing Project

Housing Project for the Needy

On behalf of our Central Council of Chennai, a housing project is being carried out every year to provide a house for the needy who own land but cannot afford to build a home due to poverty.

So far, 5 houses have been built and handed over under this scheme. This project is entirely funded through the contributions of Vincentian brothers and sisters. As part of our Conference’s contribution, ₹20,000/- was given.

Grocery Assistance for the Needy

During Lent and Christmas celebrations, groceries and clothes received from our parish were handed over to our Society.

The contributions included:

  • Rice – 195 kg
  • Sugar – 110 kg
  • Pulses – 66 kg
  • Cooking Oil – 30.50 kg
  • Wheat Flour – 6 kg
  • Rava (Semolina) – 11 kg
  • Jaggery – 2 kg
  • Vermicelli – 10 packets
  • Churidars – 22 sets

All these were personally distributed to the homes of the needy families.

We sincerely thank our Parish Priest, Spiritual Father, and Assistant Parish Priests for providing us with this wonderful opportunity to serve the needy.

Job Self-Employment

Self-Employment Assistance

Free sewing machines are provided to those who have completed training in our Tailoring School and wish to start their own business. This year, two sewing machines and one electronic sewing machine were distributed. In addition, with the support of Sr. Rani from FMM Community, one more new sewing machine was donated.

Furthermore, to empower physically able members of our sponsored families, loan assistance has been provided to help them start small businesses and earn a living. Through this support, they have been able to take up vegetable vending, flower vending, cloth business, tailoring, and other self-employment activities. The loans are being repaid in small weekly installments, and seeing their confidence while repaying gives us immense joy.

For this self-employment initiative, an amount of ₹61,500/- was spent.

Assistance Conferences

Assistance to Other Conferences and Missions

At the request of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference of Holy Cross Church, which is part of our Southern Region, ₹15,000/- was contributed to celebrate Christmas with the needy people in that parish.

Additionally, ₹2,000/- was given to support the Night School in Thekkalur village, Thiruthani, run under the Southern Region Conference.

On behalf of our Society, we visited Rosa Nagar Parish to inaugurate a new St. Vincent de Paul Conference. We interacted with the parishioners and the youth there, encouraging them to take up works of charity for the needy.

22.12.2024 - We visited MERCY Home at Kilpauk Parish, where aged and abandoned people are cared for. We conveyed Christmas greetings, cut cake, and distributed it to them. We also donated provisions worth ₹21,640/-, including: 10 kg Rice 25 kg Toor Dal (pigeon peas) 20 kg White Chickpeas and Green Gram 2 boxes of biscuits 60 liters of disinfectant

15.01.2025 - We visited the Irular community living in Thiruvadanthai near Kovalam to understand their needs and living conditions. We also distributed notebooks and stationery for their children.

01.02.2025 - We visited the Jeevodaya Home for Cancer Patients in Manali Mathur, where we donated disinfectants, hygiene materials, and other supplies worth ₹8,226/-, along with old clothes to be used for dressing wounds. On the same day, we visited Brother Neelamegam, who had long served as a security guard in our parish but is now in poor health. We provided groceries and ₹5,000/- to support his medical expenses.

22.05.2024 On the occasion of the Feast of Mother Mary in May, on behalf of our Society, a love feast (biryani meal) was served to 250 parishioners.

09.09.2024 In commemoration of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Holy Mass was offered and sweets were distributed to all.

27.09.2024 On the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul, a Holy Mass was offered and sweets were distributed to everyone.

09.02.2025 On behalf of our Society, an amount of ₹7,300/- was raised through the sale of cool drinks and contributed towards Missionary Evangelization work.

30.06.2025 As part of the Lenten Pilgrimage, members of our Vincent de Paul Society visited St. Thomas Mount, Chinnamalai, and Abiramapuram parishes, where they meditated on the Stations of the Cross.

Peace Support for Manipur

Support for Manipur and Assam States

To support those affected by the Manipur riots, a contribution of ₹8,000/- was made on behalf of our Society. In addition, an orphaned child who lost educational opportunities due to the Manipur violence has been adopted for education through our Society. For this year, ₹35,000/- was given for his/her education.

Sisters from the Assam Conference visited us and shared their challenges in service. To support their mission, ₹5,000/- was donated.

Miscellaneous Activities

Miscellaneous Activities

As a Christmas gift, the employees working in the parish were given half a month’s salary as a bonus.

Due to the death of a parish employee’s husband, ₹20,000/- was given towards medical expenses and immediate family support. To support a family assisted by our Society, household items worth ₹17,000/- were purchased and provided for their daughter’s marriage.

On behalf of the Society, final respects were paid to Fr. Louis Mathias. On behalf of the Society, final respects were paid to Adopted Family Member, Brother Francis.

Working Hours

Our conference meetings will be held every Sunday at 9 AM - 10 AM in the conference hall at St. Thomas National Shrine, Santhome.

◾ Distribution to the needy will be done on every week.
