Ozanam Voluntary Organ Donation Movement

The Organ Donation Movement in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Thomas Conference, was inaugurated on 14.08.2011 by Most Rev. Bishop Lawrence Pius. On that day, nearly 40 voluntary organ donors registered to donate their organs after death and received their donor identity cards directly from the hands of the Bishop.

In honor of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, this initiative has now been formally named the “Ozanam Voluntary Organ Donation Movement.”. Through this movement, voluntary organ donors will be provided with an Organ Donation Pledge Certificate issued by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO).

St. Vincent de Paul Medical Clinic

St. Vincent de Paul Medical Clinic Dispensary

Our St. Vincent de Paul Medical Clinic functions every Monday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. This clinic has been serving efficiently, offering free medical assistance and quality medicines to the underprivileged. On many days, the clinic extends its service until 8:00 PM.

Every week, more than 20 people benefit from this initiative. During this year, an amount of ₹36,296/- was spent on purchasing medicines and ₹20,000/- was given as wages for nursing services.

We wholeheartedly express our gratitude to our volunteer doctor, Mr. Prosper, who is rendering his service with dedication, and also thank all the supporting staff.

Our Lady of Mylai Tailoring Training School

To promote self-employment opportunities for women, the Our Lady of Mylai Tailoring Training School is being conducted. Classes are held every week from Monday to Wednesday, in two sessions: 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon and 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM.

This year, 30 women successfully completed the training and were awarded certificates. As part of the self-employment scheme, 2 women who received certificates were provided with sewing machines worth ₹13,000/- each.

Rosalie Rendu Aari Embroidery Training School

Rosalie Rendu Aari Embroidery Training School

The Rosalie Rendu School was started to provide Aari embroidery training along with tailoring skills, enabling women to earn their own income. The training classes are held every Thursday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. So far, around 15 women have undergone training, and 11 women were awarded certificates.

St. Thomas Canteen & Cafe

St. Thomas Canteen & Cafe SSVP Santhome

The St. Thomas Canteen, run by the society, is functioning well. Efforts are being made to increase revenue in the coming years. Through this initiative, employment has been provided to 3 persons.

In this financial year, a new refrigerator worth ₹51,920/- has been purchased.

Frederic Ozanam English-Speaking Training School

On behalf of our Society, English-speaking training classes are conducted every Saturday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Currently, around 22 children are attending the training. After the classes, refreshments are provided to the students.

The training is being conducted by Sister Patricia from the Adyar St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Focus – Education Scheme (Full Education Sponsorship)

The dream project of St. Thomas Conference is the Full Education Sponsorship Scheme, implemented to ensure educational opportunities for orphans, single-parent children, and children without proper support.

Currently, around 15 children are pursuing their studies in schools and colleges. We are delighted to share that some of them have completed their studies and are now employed.

In addition, educational scholarships are also being provided. For this project, an amount of ₹6,11,400/- was spent.

St. Thomas Educational Assistance Scheme

On behalf of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the net profit from St. Thomas Café is given as educational assistance to encourage children pursuing higher education in our parish.

In this financial year, an amount of ₹4,50,000/- was handed over to the Parish Priest.

Working Hours

Our conference meetings will be held every Sunday at 9 AM - 10 AM in the conference hall at St. Thomas National Shrine, Santhome.

◾ Distribution to the needy will be done on every week.
