Annual Meeting Celebration 2026
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP), Santhome Conference, is pleased to share the highlights of its Annual General Meeting held in July 2026, marking another year of dedicated service to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized members of our community.
The Annual General Meeting provided an opportunity to review the activities and achievements of the Conference during the year 2025–2026, express gratitude for the support received from well-wishers and benefactors, and strengthen our commitment to serving those in need with compassion, dignity, and love.
Serving with Compassion and Commitment
During the year, the Santhome Conference continued its mission of reaching out to families and individuals facing financial, medical, educational, and livelihood challenges. Through regular home visits and personal contact with beneficiaries, the members identified genuine needs and extended assistance wherever possible.
The report records 1,205 patient visits, 110 home visits, and 26 visits to families without adequate support, reflecting the Conference's continuing commitment to personal and compassionate service.
Healthcare Support
Healthcare remained an important area of service during the year. Medical camps were organised in collaboration with healthcare institutions, providing free eye-related services to people in need. The reported camps included free cataract surgeries and spectacles, helping beneficiaries access essential medical care that might otherwise have been beyond their financial means.
The Conference also supported medical expenses and medicines for needy beneficiaries through its regular welfare activities.
Education – Investing in the Future
Education continued to be one of the major priorities of the Santhome Conference. Through the Focus on Education Scheme, financial assistance was extended to children and young people from economically disadvantaged families, enabling them to continue their schooling and higher education. The report records support for approximately 23 students, along with substantial educational assistance during the year.
The Conference also provided educational assistance to students who had lost educational opportunities because of difficult family circumstances.
Empowering Families through Livelihood Opportunities
The Society continued to focus not only on immediate assistance but also on helping families become economically self-reliant. Tailoring training and other skill-development initiatives provided women with opportunities to acquire practical skills and generate income.
The Conference supported beneficiaries with sewing machines and livelihood assistance, enabling them to undertake self-employment activities and gradually improve their family's financial stability.
This approach reflects the Society's commitment to creating sustainable opportunities rather than limiting its service to short-term relief.
Food and Essential Support
Food and essential-grocery assistance remained another significant area of service. Rice, pulses, cooking essentials, groceries, clothing, and other necessities were distributed to families experiencing financial hardship.
The Conference also continued its food-support initiatives for elderly and vulnerable beneficiaries, ensuring that basic nutritional needs were addressed with dignity and care.
Reaching Out Beyond the Conference
The Santhome Conference also extended support to other charitable activities and Vincentian initiatives. Assistance was provided for livelihood projects, community needs, Christmas celebrations, educational initiatives, and other welfare activities. The Conference also participated in spiritual and community programmes throughout the year.
A Year of Gratitude
The Annual General Meeting was also a moment to express sincere gratitude to all the Vincentian members, spiritual advisers, volunteers, benefactors, donors, medical professionals, partner organisations, and well-wishers whose generosity and cooperation made these activities possible.
Every contribution—whether financial, material, professional, or through personal service—has helped bring hope and dignity to people facing difficult circumstances.
The work of the Santhome Conference is sustained by the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, who reminds us that serving those in need is an expression of our faith and love.
Looking Ahead
As the Conference begins another year of service, the members remain committed to strengthening their outreach, identifying families in genuine need, supporting education and healthcare, promoting livelihood opportunities, and responding to emerging community needs.
The Annual General Meeting concluded with renewed commitment to continue the Vincentian mission with faith, compassion, humility, and dedication.
